Product Description

Remmers Funcosil AS 5 litres is a solvent-based, water-repellent facade impregnation based on siloxane/acrylate, which enhances the color of mineral substrates and provides light surface strengthening. It penetrates deeply into porous materials such as brick, sand-lime brick, clinker, and washed concrete, offering long-lasting protection against moisture, dirt, and driving rain. Suitable for renovation and new construction, it can also be used as a primer for powdering or sandy substrates before finishing with Remmers Betonacryl.

Not suitable for: solvent-sensitive materials like polystyrene or bitumen.

Consumption (indicative)

• Old brick: 0.5–1.0 l/m²

• Old clinker: 0.2–0.5 l/m²

• Washed concrete: 0.25 l/m²

• Plaster layers as primer: 0.5 l/m²

• Aerated concrete as primer: 0.5 l/m²

• Interior sand-lime brick: ≥ 0.5 l/m²

Always test consumption on a 1–2 m² trial area.

Application

1. Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and dust-free.

2. Repair cracks, poor joints, or moisture problems beforehand.

3. Apply without pressure by flowing or low-pressure spraying to full saturation (30–50 cm wet film).

4. Work horizontally from top to bottom, finishing immediately with a block brush.

5. Repeat multiple times wet-on-wet until no further absorption is visible.

6. Smaller or hard-to-reach areas can be treated with a brush or roller.

7. Protect freshly treated surfaces from rain for 5 hours; avoid wind and direct sunlight to prevent rapid solvent evaporation.

8. Remove excess product within 1 hour with Verdunning V101.

Application temperature: +10°C to +25°C. Lower temperatures slow down activity; cover façades from strong sunlight to avoid overheating.

General

Funcosil AS provides preventive protection against moisture, frost, and de-icing salt without affecting vapour permeability. It reduces microbial growth and can also serve as a dirt-repellent interior coating in schools, gyms, sports halls, and public buildings.

As a water-repellent, color-enhancing impregnation, it is ideal for all mineral substrates, including brick, sand-lime brick, clinker, and concrete. It reinforces powdering surfaces and can be used as a primer for further finishing.
